Today, I need a pep talk. It’s been a while since I’ve done that. I need a pep talk because there is so much to be peppy about. Sometimes I just forget to be peppy.
I mean, I don’t want to be peppy. I want to be joyful.
So, here’s my pep talk for those days when you have everything but want everything else:
Hey, you! Yes, you. Yes, you with the lovely life. Yes, you have a lovely life. You have life and air and a soul. You might have Jesus, and if that’s the case, then you have joy and peace and love to last you forever. I know, you don’t always feel it. Sometimes, you just want someone else’s blessing. You know what? Odds are, they want yours. So, let’s take a look at all the good.
You’ve got air in your lungs, you have the capability of reading this blog post. (YAY YOU!) You whom the Son has set free are free indeed, which is even better than being free. The ‘indeed’ sets us apart.
So, choose joy today. Smile. Show your teeth. Sing in the shower (but not if your roommates are going to bed, like mine are). Walk with a bounce in your step. Take deep breaths when that seems hard, because you can keep going. You can do today. You can be joyful where you are. And you should, because who knows when you’ll be here again?
